Wax Fang

Thursday September 28th

Star Bar Atlanta

Wax Fang is the moniker of songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Scott Carney. It began as a solo project with 2005’s albume-ette of quirky pop songs. Black & Endless Night, was manifested into a power trio for both 2007’s neo-classic rock non-cept album, La La Land, and 2012’s brooding Mirror, Mirror EP before becoming a two piece recording project for 2014’s space-rock opera, The Astronaut. 2017 finds Wax Fang with in its most realized form, with bassist/ co-producer Corey McAfee, keyboard wizard, Zach Driscoll, and drummer, Dave Chale, and a brand new album in tow: Victory Laps.

Set and Setting are an instrumental band from St. Petersburg Florida, whose work encompasses drone and ambient music to experimental rock and metal. Their debut album "Equanimity", was issued in 2013 via Science of Silence Records, which they supported with the effort of DIY touring throughout the underground and extreme music scenes in all of the U.S. and parts of Canada. In 2014, Set and Setting released their second album, "A Vivid Memory" via Prosthetic Records and continued to tour internationally and locally with bands such as Mouth of the Architect, EyeHateGod, Inter Arma, and Kayo Dot throughout 2015. 2016 brought a tough year of writing and recording while battling injuries within the band limiting live performances. The beginning of 2017 brought Set and Setting's third full-length album, "Reflectionless" along with a European Tour and a stop at the renown Dunk!Festival in Belgium.

Bloodshot Bill

Night One Friday October 13th

Doors 8pm

$12

Described by guitar legend Jeff Beck as “a cross between the Yardbirds and the Sex Pistols”, Legendary Shack Shakers has obviously earned quite a name for itself. The band’s hell-for-leather roadshow is infamous for its unique brand of Southern Gothic that is all-at-once irreverent, revisionist, soulful, dangerous, and fun.

Led by their wildly charismatic, rail-thin frontman/blues-harpist, J.D. Wilkes, the Shack Shakers are a four-man wrecking crew from the South whose explosive interpretations of the blues, punk, rock and country have made fans, critics and legions of potential converts into true believers.

Depending on whom you ask, Jack "Oblivian" Yarber is either a rock legend or an absolute unknown. This dichotomy is well-understood by Memphis musicians, as underground "fame," for all its rewards, has, with a few exceptions, been the ceiling for local acts for decades. And no one knows this dichotomy better than Yarber, who may be Memphis' most influential active rock musician.

Aside from his own records, the list of noteworthy bands Yarber has been a member of over the years is massive and includes Johnny Vomit & the Dry Heaves (a high school punk project that also featured future Squirrel Nut Zipper Jimbo Mathus), ‘80s new-wavers the End, '68 Comeback, Knaughty Knights, and Tav Falco's Panther Burns. Two of Yarber's former bands — the Compulsive Gamblers and the Oblivians — have seen their reputation and following swell in the decade since their demise, especially the Oblivians, whose international fan base borders on rabid. Due largely to his stint in these bands, both partnerships with Greg Cartwright, now of the Reigning Sound, Yarber has been an acknowledged influence on artists such as the White Stripes, the Hives and Jay Reatard
